Elder Services

The Elder Services Department of the West Palm Beach Housing Authority helps seniors access public benefits such as Social Security, food stamps, Medicare, and Medicaid. We also help with SSI, retirement, and insurance matters. Our office registers residents for transportation services if they qualify. With our large older immigrant population, residency, naturalization, and other immigration matters are handled through Elder Services. And we refer to agencies that help with personal matters such as bereavement, nutrition, literacy, and more. These services are provided to WPBHA residents only.

Besides accessing services and providing geriatric care management, the Elder Services team also offers education and enrichment opportunities. These include movie outings and other field trips, intergenerational opportunities with local college students, art classes, and citizenship classes.

Elder Services only provides assistance to WPBHA seniors. Seniors and family members outside the housing authority may seek assistance through the links below:

  • Aging Resource Center
    • Your Aging Resource Center is here to help seniors and their caregivers find solutions to the many questions and challenges of growing older. Services are available to the entire community regardless of ability to pay.

In addition, the project handles Social Security, Medicare and housing matters and provides special assistance to grandparents raising grandchildren. The project staff is available for presentations on legal issues affecting the elderly.
  • Public Guardianship Project
    • This project provides a full range of guardianship and legal services to indigent, adjudicated incapacitated elders who are without family or friends to care for or assist them. The project's goal is to enhance the quality of life for these persons while respecting their personal dignity and right to self-determination.
