Silver Palm Place Apartments Joins Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior Complex

West Palm Beach, FL (January 18, 2018) - More than 100 community leaders, partners, and residents joined the West Palm Beach Housing Authority (WPBHA) in the celebration of the grand opening of Silver Palm Place Apartments on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 838 Adams Street, West Palm Beach, FL.

Silver Palm Place Apartments, designed in a contemporary architectural style, is one of the newest communities to be constructed on the 17-acre former Dunbar Village site. As with the Senior Complex, the WPBHA partnered with Landmark Development Corporation from Miami to bring 120 family units to the area.

"The Housing Authority has owned and managed affordable housing on this site since 1940," said Executive Director Laurel Robinson. "Although the obsolete buildings are gone, and we are very proud of these beautiful new apartments, we have remained true to our mission of providing affordable housing to income-challenged households in West Palm Beach. It was not easy to get here, but the WPBHA and its many partners Never, Never, Never give up!"

Attendees took a first look at the one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, which feature Energy Star efficiency appliances, washers, dryers, garbage disposals, ceiling fans, and more. Included in the community are a state-of-the-art fitness center, a children's playground, and an outdoor pool.

"Dunbar Village is the heart of Coleman Park, and it is beating harder and faster than ever", said Armando Fana, Director of Housing and Community and Development of the City of West Palm Beach. "This is a magnificent example of creating a project that anybody in the community and city can be proud of."

"The Housing Center of the Palm Beaches" is an umbrella group which includes Baobab Inc., the development division of the WPBHA. The Housing Center of the Palm Beaches is committed to expanding its mission throughout the City of West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County.
